I have two extra children this week. My sister, out of town and living up a little bit of solitude and undivided spouse time left her two youngest with me. I'm happy to have them, and quite honestly found myself wishing I had the other two as well, except then I would have more children than I have seats in my car and that seemed a little hazardous. Emergency? No trouble. We'll just draw straws to see which two kids stay at home!
After 36 hours of seven children, two of them babies, I find myself wondering how I ever managed twins. I know I did manage, because my twins are seven now, and are uh, alive. But honestly? I have no recollection of how we got here. It's all sort of a fuzzy blur of exhaustion and wits-endedness. But we pulled through. We must have. And so we shall manage this weekend as well.
So why post at 9:50, when I still have to fold four loads of laundry AND go to the grocery store so that the babies have milk to drink tomorrow and I have plenty of treats with which to bribe the others? I post because I just learned that my blog has made it to the finals in the Power of Moms Blog Contest. And so I'm here to say thank you, and welcome to all those who've clicked over to see what Mommy Snark is all about. I hope that you'll click on the Best of Mommy Snark tab up above and read a few posts to learn how I feel about this mothering that I do. I wish I had time to say more. I will say just this. Mothering is gritty and hard. It gets under your fingernails and under your skin and stretches you to your breaking point time and again. But then, in a moment, it's magnificent. It fills your senses and opens your heart and defines the realest part of you that will ever be, the part of you that will make the biggest difference. I blog for so many reasons. But near the top of the list is my desire to encourage joyful, intentional mothering. (That was more than I have time to say. But well, it's said now, so best to just move on...)
Thank you, thank you for your visit and, if you feel so inclined, for your votes.
To my readers, I would love it if you could vote as well. You can vote for your three favorites. Can I put a good word in for my lovely friend Carrie? Her blog, All that is Sweet in Life is also nominated. I love her blog. I love her. She's an amazing, inspiring woman in so very many ways. So. Go, visit some great blogs, and vote! You know I'll love you for it. (Who am I kidding. I love you regardless.)

Good on you! Power of moms is right, you're amazing. Good luck with the brood--glad it's you not me.
That is awesome! Congratulations.
Oh, congratulations. You deserve it!
I'm super happy for you!
Congrats!!! I voted :)
Enjoy your crazy, overflowing with children week!!
I'm on my way to vote for you!! You're thoughts on mothering have spurred me on soooo many times!
Thanks, friend!
Isn't it amazing how as mother's we raise our children and we don't remember how we get to the point of having older children!
Thanks for sharing your life with us.
I don't which to commend you on more. The fact that you are blogging while 7 children are under your roof or the fact that your blog totally rocks! Either way you are pretty dang spectacular.
"intentional mothering". I like you. :)
Yay for you! and I have to admit that your child-filled house is making me a little tired today :)
Congrats!
And good luck with seven children! Obviously, you'll be amazing.
Congrats! And you put mothering so well into words. It gets under your fingernails, and then in another minute it is wonderful.
And I am finding it lasts beyond them leaving the pack
I can relate. I had my sister's kids last week for 8 or 9 hours and it almost pushed me over the brink.
Congrats on the blog contest. I've been voting.
