And I do understand the quandary. Everything in its season...you'll make the right choices, as you have already and you won't be a one-hit wonder! I went for quite a few years without doing any singing anywhere, and suddenly I find myself doing rather a lot of professional work. My kids are older and it's more doable now. But not easy. Still...writing is important to you, so you will make it work!

Also, the books will wait if they need to. I understand the urgency, I really do, but you're right to let the writing slide sometimes.

I'm with the commenter who recommended NaNoWriMo. It starts on Tuesday, and it's a great way to get that story out. I loved it the year I did it, even though it was just 2 months after my dad died, I ended up having gall bladder surgery, and we had to travel from Vegas to Utah for Thanksgiving. Knowing that there is a deadline and a word count goal is amazingly motivating.

Also, do you have a phone you can leave voice memos on? My iPhone has a voice memo option, and if I get hit with inspiration while I'm driving, I just turn on the memo feature and talk into it. That way you don't lose the inspiration! (But eyes on the road, Missy!)

So so excited for you!!!!! (Do have your contract peeked at by a lawyer...and consider retain e-rights to your book(s) as well. We had a VERY positive experience...and those aspects helped GREATLY!)
